Eligibility Criteria:
1. Educational Qualifications
Candidates must have passed their final MBBS (Part-I & II) examination in no more than two attempts and should complete or have completed their internship by 15th August 2024. They must have qualified in the NEET PG during the last two years (2022 & 2023). Civilian doctors with a Post Graduate degree do not need to reappear for NEET PG, as their previous scores will be considered.
2. Additional Qualifications
Applicants must possess medical qualifications included in the National Medical Council Act, 2019, and must have permanent registration from any State Medical Council/NMC/MCI. Postgraduate degree holders recognized by State Medical Council/NBE/NMC are also eligible to apply.
3. Age Limit
As of 31st December 2024, candidates must not have attained the age of 30 years for MBBS degree holders (born on or after 2nd January 1995) and 35 years for PG degree holders (born on or after 2nd January 1990).
4. Internship Completion
Only those candidates who complete their internship on or before 15th August 2024 are eligible to apply.
Vacancy Details:
A total of 450 vacancies are available, with 338 for male candidates and 112 for female candidates. These vacancies include those expected to arise by 31st December 2024 and are subject to change. The selected and waiting lists will be valid until 31st March 2025 or until the vacancies are filled.
Selection Process:
1. Shortlisting for Interview
Applications will be scrutinized based on NEET PG marks, which will be converted to a 200-mark scale. Separate lists for male and female candidates will be prepared. Candidates will be called for interviews based on their ranking in these lists, up to eight times the number of available vacancies.
2. Interview
Eligible candidates will be interviewed by a Board of Officers at the Army Hospital (R&R), Delhi Cantt, starting from 28th August 2024. First-time interviewees will be reimbursed for their to-and-fro III AC railway/bus fare.
3. Physical and Medical Standards
Candidates who qualify in the interview will undergo a Special Medical Examination Board (SMB) assessment for medical fitness. Those declared unfit may apply for an Appeal Medical Board (AMB). If still unsatisfied, they can request a Review Medical Board (RMB), granted at the discretion of the DGAFMS.
4. Merit List
Candidates who score at least 50% in the interview will be medically examined. Merit lists for male and female candidates will be drawn up by combining NEET PG and interview scores. Only medically fit candidates from these lists will receive joining instructions.
Employment and Career Growth
1. Posting and Responsibilities
SSC Medical Officers can be posted anywhere in India or abroad, serving in the Army, Navy, or Air Force. They may work independently in their assigned units, with PG degree holders initially serving as General Duty Medical Officers based on service requirements.
2. Emoluments
On commissioning, doctors are granted the rank of Captain (or equivalent) with a basic pay of Rs. 61,300, Military Service Pay of Rs. 15,500, HRA, NPA, Transport Allowance, and other benefits. 3. Promotion and Tenure
